Ryan Preece issued a message to young racers after getting crashed at Charlotte Motor SpeedwayOn Friday night, the NASCAR Truck Series took the green flag at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The race is a part of the big Coca-Cola 600 weekend in North Carolina.With 63 laps to go, Ryan Preece got loose. Carson Hocevar drove under him to take the lead. From there, he was driving away.With 4 to go, Hocevar led Preece by 3 seconds. That’s when a caution came out, sending the race into overtime.On the restart, Hocevar didn’t get a great restart. He drove it deep to the bottom in turn one. Off turn two, he ran up the banking the leaned on the door of Preece. He put Preece in the outside wall but they remained side by side down the backstretch.Heading into turn three, Hocevar drove it deep to the inside once more. This time, he completely lost it. As he chased his truck up the banking, he collected Preece once more. This time, they were both sent into the wall.Preece held the lead as the caution came out. However, due to significant damage, Preece was forced to the pit lane.It’s the 41st race for Carson Hocevar in the last four years. With 6 top-5s, he’s yet to find victory lane.After the race, Hocevar drove to the front stretch to congratulate teammate Ross Chastain. He then returned to the pit lane, climbed from his truck and sat on the ground with his head in his hands and eyes watering.Charlotte Race Results: May 27, 2022 (NASCAR Truck Series)Carson Hocevar comments“A dumb-ass move by myself,” Carson Hocevar told Fox Sports of the restart crash.“That’s it. It sucks. I tried really hard, tried too hard.”“I didn’t get a good restart and just tried too hard. He detailed, “I tried to wash him up and just crashed myself.”Hocevar added, “But, I feel like a sis crying. It’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. I’m sure as hell going to eat Watermelon in victory lane though.”Ryan Preece comments“I just want to focus on that final restart,” Ryan Preece said after the race.“Him and I drove side by side. All you kids at watching right now, wanting to get to this level, don’t do that. Race with respect, don’t wreck the guy on the outside of you, trying to win your first race. It doesn’t get you anywhere.”“I race for a living and if I don’t run good, I don’t make a lot of money. So, I’m pissed right now.”Preece added, “Got two more races to try and go have some good runs. But, that’s just stupid. It’s really stupid. Don’t be like that.”Update: Carson Hocevar responds to Ryan Preece“Yeah, I crashed him,” Hocevar added to Bob Pockrass after the comments from Preece.“If he wants high praise of young drivers with no respect, I just spanked his ass. I waxed him. He was the next best but I put it to him.”“I messed up, I made a mistake. Obviously wasn’t trying to crash myself. I tried to use him up a little bit, not even door him. Just tried to run him up the race track a little and got loose.”“Then, I drove way too hard into three, with the damage I had. I somewhat heard what he said on MRN. He has every right to be mad and say what he wants.”“But, I don’t agree with it. I think it’s just hard racing on old tires. It’s hard to win these races and I didn’t execute.”Preece stated in another interview that Hocevar makes a lot of mistakes and it’s now a habit.“I think he’s full of S-H-I-T. Haven’t crashed all year, really. I made a mistake at Vegas and he was the one that turned me.”“If he wants to play that card, sure. The young kid always gets put down.
